elements Living celebrates the truly outstanding people that motivate us to live healthier, happier lives. This month, our spotlight is on Ami Sarasvati, a health club fitness director who went from a size 18 to a size 6 by taking control of her diet and her life.

Ami first began putting on significant weight with the pregnancy of her son. Never quite able to work off the 66 pounds she gained, the later pregnancy of her daughter packed on another 40 pounds.

It took a dangerous collapse due to exhaustion that landed her in the emergency room to get Ami to wake up and realize she needed to take better care of her body...for her kids and herself. Motivated by her sister to join a gym, Ami began the difficult journey to regain her health and her ideal weight.

ami picture.jpg Over the next few years, she transformed herself from someone who owned two jog bras but couldn’t do a single modified push-up to a lean, mean fitness machine. Ami relied on a diet of her own creation that omitted all processed and packaged foods—everything with a food label. She supplemented this simpler, healthier diet with fitness programs that included yoga and weight-lifting. Ami lost 63 pounds, dropping from a size 18 to a size 6.

Improving her health and her body showed Ami that she had a unique perspective to offer the fitness industry. Ami went on to hold three director-level jobs with YMCA and even became a fitness competitor! Because she was eager to explore ever aspect of becoming a healthy inspiration to others, she took a position as director at an elements fitness club in Exeter, NH and turned her attention to formatting her unique perspective into a unique weight loss and nutrition program. The program relies heavily on natural foods and a balanced diet to help people lose weight without falling prey to fad diet trends.
