Meet the SUPER you!

This month is dedicated to celebrating you. As we enter a new year, the promise of exciting change is within our grasp. In this issue of elements living, we help you consider the possibilities, enhancements to our happiness level, and our quality of life. It is said that before we can achieve, we must dream – lets work together to create the new, super you.
Restore the Order. Isn’t it so nice to come home from work to a clean house, or, even simply, an empty sink? Too often we have an “I’ll deal with it later” attitude when it comes to cleaning. Leaving things for later is just the type of habit that we need to break. Once you can easily restore order to your surroundings, you will surprisingly find other aspects of your life start to fall into place as well.
I deserve the best! Treat yourself. We dedicate so much of our energy to everyone around us, and often can forget to take a little time for ourselves. Remember to set aside time to pamper ourselves. Ever wonder why we save our best for our guests? Whether it’s the nice bottle of wine or the fine china... Why not give yourself the luxury of the same pleasures? Listen to your favorite music, or give yourself the time to soak in a mineral bath soak with fresh rose petals. Little things can sometimes make a big difference.
Appreciate. Why do we love to focus on things that are going wrong in our lives? Sometimes it seems to take more effort to stop and to appreciate everything that is right. Be grateful for all the wonderful things that you have. Remember to try to keep a balanced perspective. The world is a vast place, and sometimes we take the little (and the not so little) things for granted. Have you ever met someone who manages to turn every conversation into a complaint? Now stop. Are you one of those people? Next time you have the urge to vent, stop. Speak a positive thought instead.
I am going to make time in my life for FUN. Take time for parks, bikes, the beach, a movie, going out for dinner, dancing, or a drink with a good friend. Fun takes a different and special meaning for each of us. What good is all the hard work that you do, if you can't let your hair down and have fun once in a while. It is important to keep in mind that successful living is about balance.
Body Beautiful. Our traditional workout regimen is great for maintaining our bodies the way they are. But if we want to take it a step further, and actually change our body, then we need to push ourselves a little further too. There are so many different ways to take our workouts to the next level, why do we seem to get stuck in the same routine. Take some time this month to really explore all that your health club has to offer. Add a few reps or minutes to your workout day by day, or try a new kind of exercise that you don't usually do to get different muscles working. A little push can make a big difference. This might be an idea time to try a personal trainer, or a lifestyle coach. Think about it, you are already investing the time and energy to go to the gym, why not invest a little more for virtually guaranteed results.
Love what I do. Do what I love. We know, sounds so cliché… But why is it seemingly so difficult to do? Our advice at elements living is always to follow your heart, and do what you love. If a full career change isn’t in the cards for you this month, then start by putting more passion into what you have to do. "It's not what you do but how you do it." It’s an age old saying that still rings true. If you can just put a little heart and soul into you daily tasks, you might be able to find some joy in what might seem to be the most mundane tasks.
I am going to earn more money. There is nothing wrong with wanting abundance. In fact, if you don't ask for it, you might not get it. A hint here is visualization… think about what it would feel like if you already had that money, and act like you already do. Believe that you can make as much as you want, and sooner or later you will. There are some people who believe that they don’t deserve money. Others feel guilty for wanting more than what they already have. Drop those ideas. You deserve to have all the pleasures and luxuries that you can imagine, and there is enough in the world for everyone.
Love Food. To look at cooking as an obligation is certainly not exciting…. Change the way you view food this year. Cuisine is a real adventure… you can find amazing recipes online for any kind of food that you can imagine. Try a new cuisine once a week, and start acting like a gourmet chef. Put love into each ingredient and think about how you are nurturing your family or yourself through the food that you make. We bet you'll be able to taste the difference. Some websites to try: allrecipies.com, foodnetwork.com, recipegoldmine.com
I am going to learn how to do something that I've always wanted to do. The internet is a true global resource that we often take for granted. The top experts, ideas, suggestions, and instructions can virtually all be found online. How worldly would you be, knowing another language? How interesting would you sound commenting on travel, places, and cultures. The online realm is a 24 hour resource. About.com has free guitar lessons. Just google what you want to do and don't forget to add words like "free lessons" or "how to." You might even find groups of people who are dedicated to sharing their knowledge with you. Everything you want to know is available to you at your fingertips.
Make it happen this year. Become a Super You!
